Don't build the machine yet

The gist

Before you automate a sequence, run it by hand a few dozen times. Manual outreach is how you learn what to automate, automating a broken motion just breaks it faster.

There's a powerful temptation, the moment you decide to do outbound, to build the whole apparatus first, the sequences, the rules, the automations, before you've sent a single message that worked. Resist it. Automation doesn't create a good motion; it amplifies the one you already have. Point it at something broken and you simply break things faster, at scale, while burning your domain reputation on the way.

Earn the right to automate

Send your first few dozen messages by hand. Watch what comes back. You'll learn things no playbook can tell you: which opener gets a reply from your buyer, how people object, which title actually responds, what a good conversation feels like once it starts. These are the patterns worth encoding, and you can only see them by being in the conversations yourself.

Then automate the parts you've seenwork, and only those. The sequence timing that fit your buyers. The follow-up that consistently revived dead threads. The message structure that earned replies. Now automation is doing something proven, faster, which is what it's for.

  • Manual first, machine second. The order is not negotiable if you want a motion that actually converts.
  • Automate the proven, not the hopeful. If you haven't watched a step work, don't systematize it yet.
  • Keep a human in the loop. Even at scale, you should be approving what goes out until you trust the pattern completely.

Sigora is built for exactly this shape: it does the heavy, repetitive work, sourcing, verifying, and scoring the right people, while you stay on the message and the close, so you stay close to the conversations while they're still teaching you something. You scale the labor, not the learning.

Key ideas

  • Automation amplifies whatever you point it at, including mistakes.
  • Send the first batches by hand to feel what gets replies.
  • Only systematize the steps you've seen work with your own eyes.
